'On 6th September, 1918, during operations East of PERONNE, Private WEATHERED's Platoon came under heavy enemy fire, and several casualties were caused. As some stretcher bearers were included in these casualties, Private WEATHERED volunteered to act as stretcher-bearer, and in spite of heavy enemy shell-fire, dressed the wounded and helped to carry them out, regardless of his own safety. Although continually exposed to the enemy fire he carried out his self-imposed task in a cool and courageous manner which won the admiration of all ranks.'
