War service: Egypt, Sinai, Palestine Embarked Sydney, 17 February 1917; transshipped to 'Mashobra', Bombay, 18 March 1916; disembarked Suez, 4 April 1917, and reverted to rank of Trooper. Admitted to 26th Stationary Hospital, Ismailia, 9 April 1917 (prexia: not yet diagnosed); discharged, 17 April 1917 (influenza), and joined Details Camp, Moascar, same day. Taken on strength, 1st Light Horse Training Regiment, Moascar, 27 April 1917. Detached to Imperial School of Instruction, Zeitoun, 6 May 1917; completed 26th Machine Gun Course (95% in all exams); rejoined 1st Light Horse Training Regiment, Moascar, 26 May 1917. Transferred to 1st Light Horse Regiment, 31 May 1917. Joined Cadet School, 1 July 1918; appointed 2nd Lieutenant, 15 December 1918, and posted to Reinforcements; marched out from Cadet School, 1 January 1919; taken on strength, 1st Light Horse Regiment, in the field, 3 January 1919.
