War service: Egypt, Western Front Embarked Melbourne, 21 March 1916; disembarked Egypt, 20 April 1916, and taken on strength of Combined Training and General Base Depot, Tel el Kebir, the same day. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 9 May 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 17 May 1916; marched into Base Depot, Etaples, 20 May 1916. Taken on strength of 1st Divisional Ammunition Column, in the field, 11 September 1916. Transferred to 1st Field Artillery Bde, 15 September 1916; taken on strength of 1st Field Artillery Bde, 18 September 1916, and posted to 101 Battery. Admitted to No 1 Australian Dermatological Hospital, Bulford, England, 20 September 1917, while on leave (venereal disease); discharged, 20 November 1917, and marched into Convalescent Training Depot, Parkhouse, the same day; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 62 days. Marched out of Convalescent Training Depot, 30 November 1917; marched into No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, 1 December 1917, and classified 'B1A4'.
