'Constantly under heavy shell fire from 21st to 30th September, 1917, these men wee engaged in assisting in laying and burying cables from GLENCORSE WOOD and maintaining routes to forward and rear stations. During operations on 26th September, when buried routes beyond GLENCORSE WOOD were damaged beyond repair by enemy shell fire, these men assisted in laying new lines to forward positions. Continually under heavy shell fire, they showed splendid courage and devotion to duty.'
