Distinguished Conduct Medal

'He has, during the period 16 September to November, 1918, served as linesman. During the operations on the Hindenburg line at Bellicourt, near St. Quentin, though buried by a shell and badly shaken during an attack, he stuck to his work, and later was always the first to go out and repair lines.'
