Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry at Lihons, 11 August, 1918. This non-commissioned officer did valuable work. When there was a shortage of officers owing to casualties, he led platoons at critical times, on two occasions rushing machine gun posts. His courage imbued confidence in those around him, and he showed fine skill in keeping touch with flanking units.'
