Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the operations on 8th and 9th August 1918 near VILLERS-BRETONNEUX. During the attack a nest of machine guns was met with in MORCOURT VALLEY. Private WESTON saw one of the enemy machine guns firing, and noting that the attention of his section commander was directed elsewhere, he obtained the assistance of two men and made such a careful approach to the machine gun that he reached a position within ten yards of it without being seen. The gun was still in action and Private WESTON led his two comrades in a charge against the gun, shooting the men firing it. The remainder of the crew of Private WESTON materially assisted in the clearing up and the capture of this portion of the MORCOURT VALLEY which yielded over 150 prisoners.'
