'On the 11th April 1917 at BULLECOURT Private WHITCROFT was one of a carrying party for ammunition and bombs, on each return journey from the captured trenches for more ammunition he helped back wounded men under artillery and heavy enfilade machine gun fire. Each forward journey was made through similar fire.'
