Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry in action. Though blown into the air by a shell in the advance, he led on through the enemy barrage until he reached their trenches, where he did fine work in consolidating the position won. When the enemy counter attacked, he led a charge with fixed bayonets to create a diversion while his machine guns got into safety.'
