'During an attack on the enemy trenches South of MORLANCOURT near ALBERT, on night 10/11th June, 1918, this man rushed forward in advance of his platoon to an enemy bombing post under very heavy bombing and rifle fire, and killed the garrison of the trench. Later during consolidation, by his spirit and energy, he showed a wonderful example to all the men.'
