War service: Egypt, Western Front Embarked Melbourne on HMAT 'Bakara', 9 November 1915; disembarked Suez, 7 December 1915. Embarked Alexandria on HT 'Hororata' and proceeded to join the British Expeditionary Force, 16 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 23 June 1916. Reported wounded and missing, 19 July 1916 (gun shot wound); captured at Laventiou, 19 July 1916, and officially held as prisoner of war at Fleurbaix, 20 July 1916; transferred to detention in Gefangenenlager, 31 July 1916. Embarked Calais for repatriation, 25 November 1918; reported to headquarters, 26 November 1918. Found guilty at London, 24 January 1919, of being absent without leave, 10.00 am, 3 January, to 24 January 1919: fined 21 days' pay; forfeited total of 42 days' pay; marched into No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 25 January 1919.
