Embarked from Sydney, 30 September 1916; disembarked Plymouth, 19 November 1916. Marched in to 36th Heavy Artillery Group, 3 December 1916.

Proceeded overseas to France, 20 January 1917; taken on strength, 54th Battery, 36th Heavy Artillery Group, 23 February 1917. Sick to hospital, 31 January 1918; rejoined unit, 24 February 1918. Sick to hospital, 5 June 1918 (septic finger) ; rejoined unit, 7 August 1918.

Unit redesignated 36th Australian Heavy Artillery Brigade.

Marched out from Australian General Base Depot, France, to England, 16 February 1919, for early repatriation, and attached to Australian Army Pay Corps, London, 18 February 1919.

Commenced return to Australia on board 'Port Lyttleton', 10 June 1919; disembarked Melbourne, 5 August 1919; discharged (termination of period of enlistment), Brisbane, 21 September 1919.
