Military Medal 'For coolness, courage, and devotion to duty south of WESTHOEK on 2nd October, 1917. This N.C.O. was working with a party of Sappers repairing a plank road which came under very heavy shell fire. The Officer in charge of the party was wounded and evacuated. Sergeant WILKINSON reorganised his Section and started them to work again, completing the task although the road was again frequently shelled. This N.C.O. has during the operations in front of ZONEBEKE done excellent work under most difficult conditions. He has at all times set a fine example to the men of his Section.'
