'During the offensive operations near ZONNEBEKE on 26th September, 1917, Private WILKINSON carried messages from the front line to Battalion Headquarters always exposed to enemy sniping and machine gun fire and often having to pass through a heavy barrage, displaying great courage and enabling useful information to be obtained from the front line.'

Bar to Military Medal

'For gallant conduct and devotion to duty near Broodsiende on 22nd October 1917. Private WILKINSON worked continuously for 24 hours rendering first aid and carrying wounded. In addition to his duties as a Stretcher Bearer he rendered valuable assistance in guiding ration parties on his return journeys from Zonnebeke to the Companies in Front Line. His coolness under fire was most inspiring to his comrades.'
