Admitted to No 2 Australian Stationary Hospital, Tel el Kebir, 17 February 1916 (corns); transferred to 3rd Australian General Hospital, Abbassia, 7 March 1916; to 3rd Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Helipolis (date not recorded); discharged to duty, 21 April 1916; rejoined unit, 24 May 1916.

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force; disembarked Marseilles (dates not recorded).

Wounded in action, 20 July 1916 (gun shot wound, foot), and admitted to 8th Stationary Hospital, Wimereux (no further details recorded).

Accidentally injured finger, right hand (opening biscuit tin, Depot Stores), 31 January 1917; embarked for England, 15 February 1917, and admitted to London War Hospital, Horton, 16 February 1917 (septic finger). Court of Enquiry, Etaples, 26 February 1917, found the injury was sustained accidentally whilst in the performance of his military duty and that he was not to blame.

No further details of war service recorded.
