Military Medal 'During the Operations at SUGAR FACTORY East of NAUROY during night 30th September and 1st October 1918. Private WILLIAMSON is a Company Stretcher Bearer and after a Platoon had been withdrawn from a forward position, he went out 300 yards to bring in wounded and dead. Twice he went out under heavy Machine Gun fire and was successful in recovering two men. The third time he went out and endeavoured to get up to the position that the Platoon had occupied during the afternoon, but by this time the enemy had moved forward and were in possession of the posts. He stayed out endeavouring to work behind the posts, but the enemy turned two Machine Guns on him and forced him to retire. Throughout the operation he was untiring in his work of attending to the wounded and with others carried out a number of men under very heavy Artillery and Machine Gun fire. This man has always done exceptionally good work but on this occasion he showed great bravery and devotion to duty.'
