Military Medal 'For conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty as N.C.O. in charge of the carrying party from Battalion Headquarters to the firing line during the operations forward of STRAZEELE from 12th to 23rd April, 1918. Though continuously under very heavy artillery and machine gun fire he never failed to deliver his loads; and on his return brought men of his party who were wounded to safety. His conduct throughout the operations was a splendid example to his men.'
