'This N.C.O. has been Quarters Master Sergeant of the Battery since its formation. Although an elderly man with two sons in the Brigade, and himself in ill health, has severed with the greatest determination under the heavy conditions of the campaign. He is a particularly able worker in his own Department and has constantly shown the utmost fearlessness in bringing up rations and ammunition under fire, and when the wagon line has been shelled.'
