Military Medal 'On 26th September, 1917, near ZONNEBEKE when in charge of a party laying a tape track from the Brigade Headquarters to the front line on the left Sector, this N.C.O., although under heavy shell and machine gun fire, located the track with judgement and speed. His coolness and determination set a splendid example to his men under very exposed conditions, and the thoroughness of his work enabled many runners and stretcher bearers to find the shortest route to safety, thereby avoiding casualties.'
