Taken on strength 1st Divisional Ammunition Column, and posted to No 2 Section, 24 January 1916. Appointed Driver, Zeitoun, 19 March 1916.

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 26 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 2 April 1916.

Transferred to No 4 Section, 1st Divisional Ammunition Column, 18 May 1916. Mustered as Gunner, 9 August 1918.

Transferred to Trench Mortar Brigade, 8 September 1916; taken on strength, 1st Division Trench Mortar Brigade, 9 September 1916.

Accidentally killed by explosion while salvaging ammunition.

Court of Enquiry held at Basentin, 17 April 1917, 'shows that the casualty occurred through the accidental explosion of a 4.7 shell, further that every possible care was taken in handling same & that no blame rests on anyone concerned.'
