Military Medal 'During the attack on BROODSEINDE RIDGE east of YPRES on 4th October, 1917, Pte. WILSON did gallant work as a stretcher bearer throughout the operation. During the heavy shelling which the Battalion was subjected to at the forming up point prior to hopping out casualties were very heavy. Pte. WILSON did magnificent work dressing wounded in the shell holes and carrying them back out of the barrage thus saving many lives. When the Battalion went for the final objective this Bearer went with them and continued his fine work dresssing wounded, organising stretcher parties, out of prisoners and carrying back out of the barrage himself. He worked indefatigably throughout the action.'
