Disembarked Alexandria from HT 'Caledonian', 26/27 December 1915 (general Gallipoli evacuation); promoted to Corporal Signaller, Heliopolis, 1 January 1916; proceeded to the front, Wardan, 14 January 1916.

Admitted to hospital, Sohag, 3 May 1916; returned to duty, 8 May 1916; to be Temporary Sergeant Signaller, Mazar, 21 January 1917; to be Sergeant Signaller, Fukhari, 21 April 1917; to Imperial School of Instruction, Zeitoun, 25 August 1917; qualified 22nd Signals Course, Zeitoun; rejoined unit from detachment, Rafa Beach, 7 October 1917; awarded the Military Medal, 4 November 1917; detached to 1st Signal Squadron, Ayun Kara, 11 December 1917; taken on strength of 1st Signal Squadron, 12 December 1917; detached to 1st Signal Troop, 4 January 1918. Transferred to 1st Signal Troop, 9 February 1918; moved out from unit, 16 April 1918; marched into Base Signals, Alexandria, 18 April 1918; moved out to unit, 14 May 1918; rejoined 1st Signal Troop, 17 May 1918; to School of Instruction, 4 July 1918; rejoined unit from detachment, 9 September 1918.

Embarked Suez and commenced return to Australia on HT 'Port Darwin', 15 November 1918 (1914 Personnel); disembarked 2nd Military District, 26 December 1918, for onward travel to 1st Military District. Discharged Brisbane, 26 February 1919.
