Military Medal 'During the operations at Ville-sur-Ancre on 19th May 1918, this man as a Sniper carried out very fine work. Pushing forward as far as possible under the protective barrage he secured a position where he commanded the roads and approaches in front of the village and did good shooting. Finding his work had caused enemy movement to cease, he worked his way forward to a more exposed position and took advantage of every target. He scored 15 hits on the enemy during the day. Despite hostile fire, this man was to be found where he could deny enemy movement and observation, and his work materially helped in the consolidation of the captured positions.'
