Found guilty, 8 September 1918, by Field General Court Martial, of being absent without leave, 11-20 August 1918: awarded 90 days' Field Punishment No 2.

Found guilty, 10 December 1918, by Field General Court Martial, of deserting His Majesty's Service, 1-2 October 1918: sentenced to 5 years' Penal Servitude.

Reported an illegal absentee, 10 December 1918.

District Court Martial, London, 24 July 1919, found him guilty of being absent without leave 10 December 1918-10 July 1919: sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment with hard labour

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Port Denison', 25 September 1919 (unexpired portion of sentence remitted).

Failed to re-embark at Cape Town; apprehended as AWL, placed in close arrest and charged with conduct prejudicial to the prejudice of good order and military discipline: awarded 168 hours' detention.

Re-embarked in detention on board 'Pakeha', 30 October 1919; disembarked Adelaide, 21 November 1919; discharged, 21 November 1919.

Medals Board ruled, 4 September 1922, 'Not eligible for War Medals'.
