Admitted to 140th Field Ambulance, 24 October 1916 (sprained ankle), and transferred to 41st Division Rest Station; discharged to duty, 27 October 1916. Admitted to 5th Australian Field Ambulance, 15 November 1916 (rheumatism), and transferred to Corps Rest Station; rejoined unit (date not recorded). Found guilty, 26 January 1917, of conduxct to the prejudice of good order and Military discipline, i.e. falling out from fatigue party without permission and failing to report back: awarded 28 days' Field Punishment No 2 [other entries state Field Punishment No 1].
