Military Medal

'SOMME - 4th to 8th April, 1918. Whilst in charge of a party detailed to prepare demolition of a bridge, at a critical period, this N.C.O. exhibited great courage and devotion to duty. He stuck to his post during a very heavy bombardment and by his coolness set a fine example to the men in his charge, getting the demolitions prepared in quick order.'
