Meritorious Service Medal

'Since the inception of his Battalion and since the arrival of his Unit in FRANCE (November 1916), this N.C.O. has rendered very meritorious service. In addition to his duties as Pioneer Sergeant, he has been given large responsibility in regard to Engineer Stores and other supplies. He has rendered invaluable assistance in the Line in the organisation of dumps and supplies. He is untiring in his energies, and on many occasions has shown a total disregard for danger.'
