Military Medal

'Showed great dash and courage during the attack on German position north of FLERS, on morning of 5th November, 1916. His splendid example had a steadying effect upon his men and when held up by enemy fire he crawled back for more men and assisted to guide reinforements and when ready pushed on. He was most attentive to the comfort of his men under most trying conditions, taking no regard to personal safety.'
