Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the operation of reducing the last resistance of the enemy in a village, he behaved with great gallantry and devotion to duty. He kept in touch, by means of signallers, with battalion headquarters, sending back valuable information. Seeing that the enemy were offering strong resistance at one point of the village, he hastily collected a party, and with great skill and initiative attacked and captured the post. He was wounded, but continued in the fighting until the village was finally cleared of the enemy. His gallantry and fine leadership were of great service, and did much to insure the success of the operation.'
