Medals |
Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the attack on the 5th April 1918 against our positions opposite DERNANCOURT and ALBERT. Bombardier WINDERS was in charge of a detachment with an advanced Section of guns. Though under heavy shell fire and one gun knocked out of action, he with the remaining Gunners, continued to serve the other gun until he was severely wounded. Up to the time of his being hit he set an excellent example of courage and devotion to duty. The above gallant service is but characteristic of his work throughout.'
