Military Medal 'In the operations against the enemy position at MONT de MERRIS on the 2nd/34d June, 1918 Private WINN evinced great gallantry and iniative on reaching the final objective he with his section Commander (T/Corporal ALLEN) were the only two left in their Section. Together they dashed forward to mop un an enemy post. Seeing a platoon of Germans commencing to re-organise they worked to the rear of the enemy, rushed the postion and surprising them captured 35 prisoners (including an officer) and three machine guns. Throughout the operation he rendered valuable assistance to his section leader.'
