Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty under very heavy shell fire, on the YPRES MENIN Road on 25th September, 1917. He was continuously on post controlling the traffic. His two assistance were both wounded, and he remained on duty under heavy shell fire, until relieved, under the most trying circumstances, showing utmost disregard of danger to himself, in his efforts to prevent congestion and keep the supply of munitions moving forward and in safe guarding the lives of his comrades.'
