Military Medal 'For conspicuous courage and devotion to duty during the attack WEST of BELLENGLISE on the 18th September, 1918, when his Battalion passed through a very heavy enemy barrage. This man was acting as Stretcher bearer and although carrying a large quantity of extra supplies he was particularly assiduous in dressing and attending the wounded. He remained in the barrage whilst there were any wounded to attend to, and throughout displayed admirable courage and cheerfulness.'
