Military Medal

'East of RONSSOY, this Non Commissioned Officer on 29th and 30th September, 1918, carried out his duties under heavy machine gun and shell fire. By his cheerful willingness in carrying out his work, he set a fine example to his comrades. He was working all day and late into the same night carrying cases and marshalling the stretcher squad, and to him in a great measure is due the speedy evacuation of the numerous cases of American wounded put through the Aid Post of the 39th Battalion. His gallantry and devotion to duty under these trying circumstances were conspicuous.'
