'During the operations of the 32nd Battalion near BELLICOURT between 29th September/1st October Private BROCK showed the greatest gallantry, courage and devotion to duty. Private BROCK was a Stretcher Bearer and throughout the whole operations his services were repeatedly availed of and were exceedingly valuable. He frequently had to dress wounded in the open and carried out of the line casualties through the heaviest machine gun and shell fire, disregarding his own life for the sake of his fellow comrades. His cheerfulness and devotion to duty was an inspiration to all ranks.'
