War service: Western Front Transferred to 'A' Section as Sergeant Clerk, 2 November 1916 Joined No. 5 Officers' Cadet Battalion, Cambridge, England, 5 July 1917. Having qualified for commission in Infantry, is appointed in AIF and posted to General Reinforcements 3 November 1917. Taken on strength, 16th Battalion, 27 November 1917; detached to Australian Gas Corps 20 January 1918; rejoined battalion from detachment 26 January 1918. Detached to Australian Corps School from 9 March 1918 to 16 April 1918; rejoined battalion 16 April 1918. Appointment terminated 13 February 1919. Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal Also served in World War II as Officer Commanding, 6th Australian Army Troops Company, RAE. |
