War service: Western Front Embarked from Sydney, 19 December 1917; disembarked Southampton, 15 February 1918, and marched in to Artillery Base, Heytsbury. Proceeded overseas to France, 1 April 1918, and marched into Australian General Base Depot, Rouelles, as Driver, 2 April 1918. Taken on strength, 3rd Field Artillery Brigade, 14 April 1918. Detached to 1st Field Artillery Brigade, 5 February 1919. Proceeded to England, 18 March 1919; granted leave for Non Military Employment, 20 March-20 June 1919, to gain farm experience at J.W. Shearman, Poplar Farm, Sleaford. On expiration of period of NME granted further leave until 5 July 1919, to report to No. 2 Group, Sutton Veny, Wiltshire.
