Military Medal 'During the attack near BEAUREVOIR, east of PERONNE, on 3rd October, 1918, this man was in charge of a party which he had organised on our right flank. Observing that an enemy machine gun was firing into our troops from the right, he with his party took up an exposed position, sniping at the machine gun position and gradually working up to it, eventually rushed the gun and crew, capturing it. 25 prisoners were taken in this machine gun post, including a Battalion Commander and part of his staff. his coolness and courage in a difficult position gained the admiration of his comrades, and set a fine example to them all. Throughout the whole action this man displayed great fighting qualities and absolute disregard for personal safety.'
