Military Medal 'On the 1st September, 1918, during operations North of PERONNE, a Company which occupied a very advanced position had to slightly withdraw to conform to the general line, this man so placed himself that he was able to protect the withdrawal of the left flank. he armed himself with a supply of bombs and although fully exposed to enemy fire he continued bombing, and succeeded in holding the enemy until the left flank of his Company had established itself in a well defended position.'
