Military Medal 'At MORLANCOURT on night 28/29th July 1918. Skilful leadership and conspicuous bravery. His Platoon Commander was killed at the first objective and this N.C.O. immediately re-organised the Platoon and took charge just after it had captured an enemy strong point. He then led the Platoon overcoming all enemy resistance to the final objective, where he consolidated. He also reorganised parties of prisoners which his Platoon had captured to carry in our wounded. Although working without orders he rendered full reports on his position to the O.C. and kept touch with the flanks. This N.C.O. by his courage and dash set a splendid example to the men of his command, he himself killing several of the enemy.'
