Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During a counter attack on the enemy position, this N.C.O. of his own initiative, went over to the sector of a battalion on the flank, and rallied and reorganized a large party of some 100 men, who had lost all their officers and most of their N.C.O.'s. By his total disregard for danger and fine example he restored the steadfastness of the men, and the flank, which was weakly held, and actually "in the air" was able to hold out until reinforced. The gallantry and fine qualities of leadership displayed by Sergeant Wright restored a situation that was full of dangerous possibilities.'
