'West of MORLANCOURT on the night of 28th/29th July 1918, Private WRIGHT was engaged in digging a Communication Trench to a captured German system immediately after an attack. He showed throughout a conspicuous degree of courage and cheerfulness and was a great example and encouragement to his comrades. He not only carried out the task allotted to him, but, when this was completed, he passed from place to place along his platoon, helping his comrades who were more backward with the tasks, and where the soil was more difficult. His example was of material assistance in the maintenance of a high morale throughout, and in the completion of the work.'
