Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This officer led his company in a night attack through a heavy artillery barrage, in which he was wounded, but refused to leave his post, and, leading his company against a machine gun position, captured fifty prisoners and four machine guns. Though his wound was painful, he carried on for three days until he was again severely wounded and sent to the rear, after a splendid example of courage and determination.'
