Military Medal 'North of POLYGON WOOD from 28th/29th September, 1917, acting as stretcher bearer and showed great bravery under fire. When sniped at by enemy machine guns he continued to attend to the wounded and their comfort was his only consideration. He passed through shell gas to get to wounded men and showed wonderful patience courage and devotion in the execution of his duty.'
