Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 5 April 1915.

Admitted to Convalescent Camp, Mustapha, Alexandria, 29 May 1915 (influenza); rejoined unit, Gallipoli, 12 June 1915.

Wounded in action, and admitted to No 1 Australian Stationary Hospital, Lemnos, 17 June 1915 (gun shot wound, head); rejoined unit, Gallipoli, 25 June 1915.

Admitted to 25th Casualty Clearing Station, Imbros, 27 August 1915 (febrile); transferred to Malta, 10 September 1915 (dysentery), and admitted to St Andrew's Hospital. Transferred to England, and admitted to King George's Hospital, Stamford Street, London, 29 October 1915.

Commenced return to Egypt, 16 February 1916; rejoined unit, Serapeum, 6 March 1916.

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 27 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 3 April 1916.

Appointed Lance Corporal, 14 April 1916.

Admitted to 1st Field Ambulance, 26 April 1916, and transferred to Divisional Rest Station (influenza); to 7th General Hospital, 27 April 1916; reported 'dangerously ill (cerebral-spinal meningitis), 30 April 1916; still 'dangerously ill', 8 May 1916.
