Proceeded overseas to France, 6 April 1918; taken on strength, 24th Bn, in the field, 2 May 1918.

Admitted to 5th Australian Field Ambulance, 12 May 1918 (piles), and transferred same day to 20th Casualty Clearing Station; transferred same day to 8th General Hospital; to England, 16 May 1918, and admitted to 3rd London General Hospital, Wandsworth, 18 May 1918.

Admitted to 1st Australian Dermatological Hospital, Bulford, 10 June 1918; discharged, 12 June 1918; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 3 days. Marched into No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, 13 September 1918.

Marched into No 4 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 24 October 1918.

Placed under arrest (case under investigation), 4 November 1918. Colonel, AA&QMG, AIF Depots in the United Kingdom, minuted, 21 August 1918: '2LT L.G. ALDRED, 24th Bn, was paraded before me by Capt. H. McLennan, Commanding Officer, Convalescent Training Depot, Parkhouse, today. I informed Lieut. Aldred that it was not proposed to send him for trial by General Court Martial, but that by his conduct he has incurred the gravedispleasure of the General Officer commanding, who considered that he (2/Lt. ALDRED) was deserving of censure. 2/Lieut. ALDRED was censured accordingly ... ' (No further details recorded on file.)
