Embarked Alexandria, 8 January 1918; disembarked Taranto, Italy, 13 January 1918; disembarked Southampton, England, 24 January 1918, and marched in to 66th Training Bn, Fovant. Admitted to Carriers' Centre Hospital, Sutton Veny, 26 March 1918 (meningitis); marched in to No 1 Command Depot, Sutton, from hospital, 9 May 1918. Marched out to 2nd Training Brigade, Fovant, 11 June 1918. Proceeded overseas to France, 8 July 1918; taken on strength, 24th Bn, in the field, 14 July 1918. Wounded in action, 23 July 1918 (gas shell), and admitted to 6th Australian Field Ambulance, and transferred to 5th Casualty Clearing Station; to Ambulance Train, 25 July 1918, and admitted to 16th USA General Hospital, Le Treport; 26 July 1918; transferred to Australian Convalescent Depot, Havre, 9 August 1918; discharged to Base Depot, 7 September 1918; rejoined Bn, in the field, 12 September 1918.
