Tried by Field General Court Martial, 2 July 1918, on charge of being absent without leave from 9 pm, 23 March, until admitted to 3rd Canadian Stationary Hospital, 4 April 1918: found 'Guilty'; awarded 42 days' Field Punishment No 2.

Wounded in action (3rd occasion), 11 September 1918 (gun shot wound, left arm), and admitted to No 1 Australian Field Ambulance, and transferred to 53rd Casualty Clearing Station; to 2nd General Hospital, Havre, 16 September 1918; to England, 16 September 1918, and admitted to 3rd Western General Hospital, Cardiff, 17 September 1918; transferred to 1st Australian Auxiliary hospital, Harefield, 7 October 1918.
