Tried by Field General Court Martial, Selmeh, 14 April 1918, on charge of when on Active Service committing a civil offence, that is to say, common assault in that he near Belah in Palestine on 31st March 1918 assaulted No 1786 Second corporal Williams C.P., Telegraph Construction Section, Royal Engineers, by striking hom on the face: pleaded 'Not Guilty'; found 'Guilty': awarded 42 days' Field Punishment No 2, and forfeited a total of £17.14.0 pay. Admitted to 31st General Hospital, Abbassia, 17 August 1918 (jaundice); transferred to Boulac Convalescent Depot, 29 September 1918; discharged to duty, 4 October 1918. Admitted to 2nd Stationary Hospital, 22 October 1918 (influenza); transferred to Rest Camp, Port Said, 29 October 1918; discharged to duty, 7 November 1918. Commenced return to Australia from Kantara on board HT 'Essex', 15 June 1919; disembarked Sydney, 28 July 1919; discharged (termination of period of enlistment), 28 August 1919.
