War service: Western Front Embarked Melbourne, 28 February 1918; disembarked Liverpool, England, 20 April 1918, and marched in to AASC Details Training Depot, Parkhouse. Transferred to 46th Bn Details, Codford, and taken on strength, 7 June 1918. Admitted to No 3 New Zealand General Hospital, Codford, 18 June 1918 (bronchitis); discharged to Training Depot, 2 July 1918. Admitted to Group Clearing Hospital, 1 August 1918 (influenza); discharged to Training Depot, 6 August 1918. Proceeded overseas to France, 22 August 1918; taken on strength, 46th Bn, in the field, 27 August 1918. Killed in action, 20 September 1918. Statement, Red Cross File No 0540404H, 3762 Lance Corporal A.G. NAISMITH, D Company, 46th Bn, 30 January 1919: 'Was killed about 11 p.m. on the 20-9-18 by high explosion shell, died instantly. Was buried the same night just over the parapet (in the field)[,] cross marks the grave (name, number and date of death being on cross).' Second statement, Chaplain W.M.
